Incorporating xBasic in Form Design: 09

Hello everyone

We have been looking at enhancing form design in Alpha Software by incorporating xBasic into the design process. We have also discussed how even older versions of Alpha Software can benefit from this approach. So it may come as a surprise to many of you that I want to encourage everyone who has not done so to upgrade to Alpha Anywhere v12®.

With the fast approaching release of Windows 10® and their intended free upgrades for all Windows users v7 and up and access to upgrade Windows XP®, just about everyone using a PC will move to Windows10®. Windows10® will work on all Microsoft platforms and will support third party apps which means your app will work on Windows Desktops, Surface Pro’s, Laptops, tablets and mobile devices. What your application may not do is display correctly. Using Alpha Anywhere v12® you can fix that and give your applications the current look and feel of modern programs as well as create version of your app for Android and IPhone devices. Existing Alpha Software programmers can take advantage of very nice upgrade offers and if you are new to Alpha Software you can download a trial version to see how easy it is to use. With that said what are you waiting for.

I will be dedicating the next several articles on transitioning my applications from Alpha 5 v8 to Alpha Anywhere and we will start with my favorite topic File Utilities. Windows 10® has brought back the Start Menu and familiar desktop. so our utility program is not as critical to our desktop. However if we use the web super control we reviewed in lesson 7 we can make a dual pane File Manager with direct links to Windows Special Folders and all network and external drives.  And we can include the PDF and file viewer.  This should be a fun lesson and I hope you will come back and follow along (after you purchase your upgrade to Alpha Anywhere!)
